Bad news for Flip fans, Cisco today announced it’s shutting down the production of Flip Videos. Yes Flip is over. It’s fallen as Cisco streamlines its’ business.

The question is would you still buy a Flip right now?

Personally I would grab one while they are still available, once they are sold out then that will be that. Treat them well and it can last you 2 or 3 years, but I am not sure if they’ll be any support for flipshare. Also forget about the warranty!

As a camera I still think Flip rocks and honestly I hope someone will buy the Flip part of the business and keep it going. Anyone here want to chip in?

UPDATE: The campaign to stop the Flip from extinction starts here > SAVE THE FLIP!

Check out this Music Video: “With Whom You Belong” from supergroup Fistful of Mercy (Ben Harper, Joseph Arthur and Dhani Harrison). It was shot entirely on a Flip Video. If you want to watch it head over to their fb page to like.

YouTube have introduced an awesome tool to help improve shaky Videos. It’s not easy keeping lightweight Flip Video cameras steady even with the image stabilisation features of the new Flip Versions 3rd generation. Using the YouTube Editor you can drag in your Videos and apply the  You Tube Image stabiliser.

The Video on top is before stabilisation and the video below is the Video after correction. It makes a massive difference.

Recently I told my Flip subscribers to expect an exclusive free Video from me. I did a quick survey and the Video the majority wanted was tips on How to film yourself. So I’ve shot the film (still from the shoot above) and I am halfway through editing it. Looks like it will be about 8 minutes of useful content.

If you want to access the Video when I release it this week you need to subscribe in the sidebar!

To get their 90,000 co-workers to communicate and share knowledge Microsoft has it’s own internal YouTube meets facebook platform called Academy Mobile.

The company dishes out a Podcast-in-a-box to employees to create blogs, highlight solutions and successes in the workplace. The kit consists of a Flip Video Camera, a Zoom H4N recorder to capture better audio and a copy of Camtasia Studio for screencasts and editing the footage. Unsurprisingly iMovie or Screenflow are not in favour!   Via Reelseo
